Sayyidul Istighfar: The Best Dua for Allah's forgiveness

"If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it and dies before the morning he will be from the people of Paradise."
Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 75, Number 318

Allahumma anta rabbee la ilaha illa anta, O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshiped except You,
khalaqtanee wa-ana ‘abduka,
You created me and I am Your servant

wa-ana ‘alaa ‘ahdika wawa’dika mas-tata’tu,
and I abide to Your covenant and promise [to honor it] as best I can,
a’oothu bika min sharri ma sana’tu,
I take refuge in You from the evil of which I committed
aboo-o laka bini’matika ‘alaya,
I acknowledge Your favor upon me
wa-aboo-o bizambee, faghfir lee
and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me,
fa-innahu la yaghfiruz-zunooba illa ant.
for verily none can forgive sins except You.

  22. Remember Allah Almighty before sleeping, as sleep is a type of death. As the souls are taken away during the sleep. So, recite this dua daily before sleep.
Arabic: “Allahumma bismika amuutu wa ahyaa”.
English: O Allah (SWT)! With your name, I die and I live.
